DCO Mentor Application

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Another session of the Drupal Career Online (DCO) program is underway with fresh faces from across the United States and we're looking to provide them with as many advantages as possible. To that end, we're looking for community mentors to help guide, assign tasks, and mentor each student with community-related activities or to just provide general career, project, or curriculum guidance.

We'll ask that each mentor be asked to spend up to 1 hour per week working with their mentee. The majority of your work with the mentee will be via email and Slack, but in-person meetings (if geographically possible) are always welcome as well.

We believe that a good mentor is patient and willing to let the student decide the path (most of the time). Don't worry if you're not a core contributor, a documentation guru, or still learning Drupal yourself (aren't we all?) - if you've got a passion for Drupal that you want to share, then you're exactly what we're looking for.

After the application process is complete, we'll match up mentors with mentees based on common interests. We'll make the initial email introduction, then allow each mentor/mentee pair to exchange contact information and set up a consistent communication schedule. If there's ever any questions/comments/concerns by either the mentor or mentee, we'll do our best to find a solution that works for everyone.

Need more specifics? Check out our guide for a good mentor/mentee relationship.
