A Fiscal Resource for Drupal Talent Development from Brevard Workforce
The World Needs More Drupal, Drupal Needs More Talent…One Workforce Agency Responds
Work Experience (WE) Drupal allows Drupal organizations to leverage the talent of eager, highly trained Drupal novices who are being paid through state grant funds to gain practical work experience. Only technically proficient Drupal Career Starter Program (DCSP) graduates can qualify to be part of WE Drupal, which provides them direct compensation for work they do for companies and organizations within the Drupal Community.
WE Drupal was developed by Brevard Workforce, the innovative regional workforce agency for Florida’s Space Coast, to help jumpstart careers for developing Drupal talent in the region. Companies outside the Central Florida region will work virtually with their Drupal novices, while companies in and around the Space Coast can provide work experience on-site, virtually or in combination. Companies interested in hosting WE Drupal talent can apply until September 28.
At the conclusion of the 10 weeks of DCSP classroom training, qualified students will be placed with matched WE Drupal Hosts for 7-10 weeks. Students will be compensated for their time as part of the DCSP at no cost to the WE Hosts, thanks to state grant funding through Brevard Workforce. The intent is for hosts to provide practical, guided work experience so new Drupalers can jumpstart their skill base, and potentially obtain contract or full time employment as Drupal practitioners for the host and within the community after the Work Experience program.
*Deadline Extended!* Apply to become a WE Drupal Host by September 28, 2012
WE Drupal
WE Drupal is sponsored by Brevard Workforce, a regional public/private partnership under Workforce Florida, Inc. serving Florida’s Space Coast. The mission of Brevard Workforce is to facilitate and be the catalyst for workforce development services that are responsive to the employment needs of Brevard County. (Curious as to why Brevard Workforce is so supportive of Drupal? Hear its president, Lisa Rice explain on the latest DrupalEasy Podcast) The Brevard Workforce Development Board includes representatives of local government, education, agencies, organized labor, economic development, community-based organizations and social service agencies. Private employers comprise a majority of each Workforce Board and the chair is elected from the private sector membership.
