New Podcast

Posted Tuesday, January 31 at 3:28 pm
Thomas Turnbull (tom_o_t on drupal.org) and Alan Palazzolo (zzolo on drupal.org) join Mike Anello to talk about their new book from O’Reilly Media, Mapping with Drupal. Mike’s usual co-hosts, Andrew and Ryan, were both unable to participate in the podcast, leaving Thomas and Alan subject to Mike’s long-winded (but extremely interesting by some accounts) questions.

DrupalEasy Podcast 15: Making Things Easier

This week's podcast brings Andrew, Ryan, and Mike back together to discuss Drupal news from the past few weeks. From Panels 3 to $18 million web sites, we'll get you up-to-speed on the latest happenings in the Drupal Community. We also picked 4 winners for our recent book giveaways, so be sure to listen in to see if you've got a free book coming.

5 Stories

Picks of the Week - every podcast we each pick a module, theme, or other Drupal-related "thing" that we'd like to spread the word about.

  • Mike - Table Wizard by Mike Ryan (mikeryan) - Views-enables virtually any MySql table, including relationships between tables. Especially useful when combined with the Migrate module. ("Lightning Bolt" joke explanation video)
  • Andrew - Account Reminder by Mike Dixon (mdixoncm) - Account reminder is a simple module that will resend the welcome email to users who have registered with the site but have not yet logged in. The admin can control the initial time before sending a reminder, the time period between subsequent reminders and the total number of reminders to send. The email that is sent is also fully customizable.
  • Ryan - Best Practices for Drupal Guide by Mediacurrent- A sample PDF for approaching client education that everyone can take hints from.

Site of the Week - every podcast we collectively pick a (usually new) Drupal site to be highlighted and discussed. This week's pick is the IT Dashboard on USASpending.gov - http://it.usaspending.com

If you'd like your site highlighted, please submit it here: http://DrupalEasy.com/siteoftheweek

The winners of our book giveaways are:

Front End Drupal: Steve Matheney and Ted Wells
Drupal 6 JavaScript and jQuery: Caelon and Nancy Wichmann

(Ted and Nancy - you didn't leave us your contact information, so use our contact page to get in touch with us to claim your book!)

Props to Andrew

The editing on the show open is so tight! Andrew deserves all kinds of credit for making this sound so much smoother than it normally goes when we're on Skype. Keep the magic alive, brother!
